Wilson Adison Costello
Alex Butterworth's Fallen Soldier
Wilson Adison Costello was born on March 18th 1922 in West Meath Ontario to Simon Costello and Jean Costello, though he and his family would reside in Carleton Place Ontario. Wilson had four siblings, his brother Albert, and his sisters, Donalda, Laura, and Charlotte. Wilson enlisted on the 18th of September 1941, with his sister Charlotte as his next of kin, though this would change to his mother at a later date. Unfortunately, on June 29th, 1942, his father Simon passed away. Wilson served with the 23rd Field Ambulance until the 24th of July 1944, when he was killed in action. He was only 22 years old. He was awarded multiple medals after his death: The 1939-1945 Star, France-Germany Star, Defense Medal, War Medal, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Wilson, like most enlisted men, had no possessions, just some money in the bank. Wilson left everything to his mother, and that is where his story ends.
