How to Join

BURLINGTON TEEN TOUR BAND

Orientation meetings for those families who are thinking of joining are offered regularly to answer questions and explain the joining process. If you wish to attend one of these meetings, please contact or by phone at  (905) 335-7807

Band members are between 13 to 21 years of age.

This is a family commitment that should be talked about together. There are many sections in the band that you have to choose from; drum line, flutes, clarinets, saxophones, lower brass and trumpets.  If you do not know how to play an instrument, you can still be a part of this amazing team and become a member of the Colour Guard.

The Burlington Teen Tour Band meets twice a week for practices at the Burlington Music Centre located at 2311 New Street. Practices are on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. and Sundays from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Annual membership fees.

Myths about the Burlington Teen Tour Band

Only the best players are accepted to become a member:

This one of the biggest myth of the Burlington Teen Tour Band.  Everyone is welcome to join regardless of ability!  We have two(2) criteria to become and member of the world famous BTTB. 1) Be between the ages of 13 and 21 years of age. 2) Want to become a member.   Our belief is how  do you become a better player and marcher if you do not have a venue to work on those skills!

It costs allot to belong:

All activities have a cost this is true, however, to be a member of the Burlington Teen Tour Band is not as large of a financial burden as people think.  The yearly membership for the BTTB is approx. $280.00!  Of course there are the initial starts up cost associated with any organization and most of those come once a new member have achieved their uniform.  Items would include:

·  Band tour jacket

·  Blue suspenders

·  Band Shoes

·  Band gloves

·  Navy blue socks

·  Band bag – not mandatory but strongly advised

·  Uniform shirt

·  Dickies – for winter performances

·  Band winter Jacket – not mandatory

·  Band Maple Leaf shirt – not mandatory

o  The tour jacket, shoes, gloves band bag, uniform shirts and maple shirt are all sold out of the uniform room.

o  The band winter jacket is sold by the band executive in the fall of each year for interested members.

o  Navy blue socks, suspends and dickies can all be purchased at local stores.

Band tour are a cost venture and with the hard work of our Band Boosters and every member doig their fair share of fund raising our tour cost are very affordable.  You will learn more about tour, fund raising, incentive accounts at a new member’s orientation session.

It should be pointed out those families who are dealing with a financial burden that there are means to receive assistance to help cover some of the above costs.  This too will be covered in an orientation session.

Our goal is to make sure finances are not a reason for someone not to join or travel with the band.
